Judge considering collusion lawsuit filed by NFL Players Assn.

The federal judge who oversaw NFL labor matters for almost two decades is considering a lawsuit brought by the NFL Players Assn. that accuses the league of collusion.

The players claim the NFL conspired to hold down salaries in 2010 with a secret salary cap.

An attorney for each side argued before U.S. District Judge David Doty on Thursday. Doty took the case under advisement, without promising when he'd decide but acknowledging he's not in a rush.

"We're not going to stop any games from being played or anything like that," Doty said.

Last year, Doty issued a key ruling for the players in a dispute over $4-billion in television revenue they contended the league held to survive a long lockout. The claim was ultimately resolved as part of the new collective bargaining agreement reached last July in time to play the 2011 season.

Etc.

Three players fighting suspensions from the NFL's bounty investigation have told a federal judge they are comfortable with their representation by union lawyers and see no potential conflict of interest in the arrangement. U.S. District Judge Ginger Berrigan had asked whether it made more sense for New Orleans defensive end Will Smith, Cleveland linebacker Scott Fujita and free-agent defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove to have separate lawyers, rather than the same lawyers representing the NFL Players Assn.

The Arizona Cardinals and inside linebacker Daryl Washington have agreed on a six-year contract. A second-round draft pick ? 47th overall ? out of Texas Christian in 2010, Washington led the team in tackles last season with 111. Terms weren't disclosed. ... Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said he is ready to play in the season opener. Peterson, recovering from a surgically repaired left knee, didn't say whether he's expecting to play and said he knows the decision is out of his hands. Coach Leslie Frazier has said Peterson's participation won't be determined until right before the game. ... The Oakland Raiders' thin receiving corps got a boost with Denarius Moore's return to practice from an injury and the signing of Derek Hagan. Moore practiced Thursday for the first time since Aug. 4. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury since June. Receiver Jacoby Ford remains sidelined with a sprained left foot. ... Stevie Johnson has been held out of practice because of a groin injury, leaving the Buffalo Bills' top receiver's status uncertain for their season-opening game at the New York Jets this weekend. Johnson experienced tightness in his groin through training camp after having surgery in May to repair an injury that nagged him for much of last season. ... New York Jets tight end Dustin Keller was limited at practice, but says his injured hamstring is "progressing well" and he should be ready to play in the season opener Sunday against Buffalo. ... The Atlanta Falcons re-signed cornerback Dominique Franks, less than a week after he was cut by the team. The team waived injured receiver Tim Toone.
