I had a wonderful experience with my pregnancy and with the birth of my daughter. I found a marvelously well informed and experienced midwife to attend my unborn baby and I. We planned and achieved a fabulously peaceful and intimate home birth. Through the course of my pregnancy and in the early weeks after my daughter's birth, we developed a great relationship with our midwife; she really feels like family. I occasionally make an effort to drop by her home and office just to say hello and so she can see how much my daughter (and son) has grown and changed. I recently had several errands to run in her neighbor. I contacted her to make sure she would be free when we would be nearby and she was. We arrived at her house a little bit early and her husband invited us to sit on the porch swing to enjoy the beautiful fall day while we waited for her. Once she came out, my son in particular was really excited to see her; he immediately started telling her all sorts of fun things. She was happy to see how much my daughter had grown. It was evident to her that my daughter was thriving, which I am sure makes her feel great about her role in helping my daughter in and outside the womb. When I had my prenatal appointments I always went straight to her office but this time during our "just for fun visit" she gave us a tour of her large yard and garden (which included some swinging on her swing set for both kiddos) before we sat down to catch up in her office. While my son and daughter played with toys, our midwife and I had a nice conversation. When it was time to go she walked us out and she helped my son gather some chestnuts from her tree before we left. It was a really nice visit and I am looking forward to her attending my future pregnancies and births!
