SBANE Announces Launch of Non-Profit Committee

Waltham, Mass., March 30, 2012- The Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE) recently launched a Non-Profit Committee, to help advance the role non-profits play within the business community in New England.

The committee is being chaired by two local nonprofit leaders, Julia de la Torre and Susan Werley Slater. Julia de la Torre is Executive Director of Primary Source, Watertown, MA, an organization that provides resources to teachers to help provide their students with a global education. Committee Co-Chair Susan Slater Werley is Executive Director of Jumpstart, a national non-profit that helps children in low income neighborhood develop valuable language and literacy skills prior to attending school. ?In addition to advancing the roles non-profits play in the business community, the committee is also looking to help facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships between the for-profit and non-profit sectors.

A small committee has been convened ?to discuss the committee?s first year goals and is made up of eleven members from both the for-profit and nonprofit world:
